Fundraising
In order to support and sustain such a large music program, the San Elijo Middle School Band and Choir participate in different fundraisers organized by the boosters throughout the year. Our largest is our Poinsettia Drive in November. The Band and Choir participate in the Amazon Smile program where a portion of the items you already buy on Amazon gets donated directly to our program. As a 501 C-3, all direct donations are tax deductible. We accept direct donations in person, at events, or via our Square Store. Click the link on the right for more information.
Throughout the year, the band and choir also participate in the following fundraisers organized by the boosters:

JAZZ BAND DINE OUTS- Our Jazz Bands perform at various eating establishments in the San Marcos area. These restaurants give our band and choir a portion of their proceeds for the night we perform. Some restaurants include Pizza Nova, Mr. Taco, and Bushfire Kitchen.

JUICE ALIVE SLUSH DRINKS-On several Fridays after school, the band and choir will be selling slurpee style slush drinks outside of the roll up door. These drinks are made from 100% fruit (no sugar added) and are school nutrition approved!

PLUCK-A-TUNE-During our fall turkey concert, we put out a turkey with "musical feathers!" Each feather has the name of a song that Mrs. Homes and Mrs. McInnis would like to have for the bands to play at a future concert. These gifts to the band are tax deductible and patrons will be recognized in the Spring Program.

SNOWFLAKE SONGS-During the winter choir concert, there is a winterscape with snowflakes that have songs that Mrs. McInnis would like to have for the choir to perform at future concerts. These gifts to the choir are tax deductible and patrons will be recognized in the Spring Program.

SEMS MUSIC PROGRAM HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER-Starting November 1, our largest fundraiser kicks off. Poinsettia sales and donation collection will run through the Friday before Thanksgiving Break. SOLO AND ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL-In February, SEMS hosts our annual Solo and Ensemble Festival where students from SMUSD schools come to perform for judges who are professionals in music education. This day long event is always fun and inspiring for students and families alike.

FLOWER, CARD, AND CANDY SALES-At our Turkey Concert, Winter Choir Concert, and Solo and Ensemble Festival, the Boosters sell flowers with little cards, candy and other assorted snacks to raise money and cover costs of events for the band and choir program.
